Windows Installer:

Bforartists Version 1.0.0 Windows 64 Bit - 77.6 Mb

Bforartists Version 1.0.0 Windows 32 Bit - 70.8 Mb

Note that the installers are currently not digitally signed since this would cost lots of money. And so Windows moans about potential dangerous software, and gives a warning at install. The installer is of course not dangerous. It just has no commercial digital signature. You can always use the zipfile versions below when you don't trust the installer. It's the same content.

Windows Zipfile:

Bforartists Version 1.0.0 Windows 64 Bit - 119 Mb

Bforartists Version 1.0.0 Windows 32 Bit - 109 Mb

Mac OS X:

Bforartists Version 1.0.0 - 128 Mb

Note: Earlier versions than 10.10 may run. But no guarantee.

Linux Tar.BZ2:

Note that the Linux version of Bforartists 1.0.0 is not ready yet. We have unfortunately no maintainer for it at the moment. There is currently just the older version 0.9.5 available! But you can try to compile the newest version by yourself. It is not this hard. See Source Code download.

bforartists-linux-x86_64-0.95.tar.bz2 - 120 Mb

There is a RPM package for Version 1.0.0 available here:

The actual sourcecode can be found on the Github project site:

Note that Bforartists 1 does not work with the newest precompiled libs from Blender. The old precompiled Windows libs to compile Bforartists 1 and Blender 2.79 are not longer available at the Blender server. We have backed it up here:

Windows 64 Bit, 1.95 Gb

Windows 32 Bit, 1.65 Gb

In case that you want to compile Bforartists by yourself, the advice is the same as for Blender. And can be found here:

Here's a short tutorial that shows the whole process under Linux Ubuntu 17
Here's the Blender advice for Linux, which goes a bit more into detail:

Here's the advice for Mac:

Developer Build

The Developer Build is an actual development snapshot. It is Windows only, only available as a zip file, and it is undocumented, besides the entries at Github and the as solved marked issues in the tracker. It is meant for users that are not able to compile the source code, but wants to have a look at what the current state of development is.

The current development build is for upcoming Bforartists version 2. It is based at Blender 2.80. VERY EARLY STATE!

123 Mb

This was the latest Bforartists 1 developer build. The differences to the official Bforartists 1 version are marginal. It is based at Blender 2.79:

120 Mb

Use at own risk. The dev build is compiled from the master, and should work. But there may be broken or missing features. Please report them when you find something.

Don't expect daily builds. We do our best to update the dev build once in a week. But it can happen that even this isn't possible.

Note that there is no version hint in the developer build. It shows the splashscreen and version number from the last official release when you start it. The folder name shows you the creation date. The newer, the more actual.

System Requirements

  • 32-bit dual core 2Ghz  CPU with SSE2 support.
  • 2 GB RAM
  • 24 bits 1280×768 display
  • Mouse or trackpad
  • OpenGL 2.1 compatible graphics with 512 MB RAM

  • 64-bit quad core CPU
  • 8 GB RAM
  • Full HD display with 24 bit color
  • Three button mouse
  • OpenGL 3.2 compatible graphics with 2 GB RAM

Bforartists should run on all grapics cards that support OpenGL 2.1 and above. It is not recommended to run it at an integrated Intel graphics chip though. This may or may not work.

The Windows Version of Bforartists 0.9.0 and higher requires Windows Vista and above. And should run on all systems that support OpenGL 2.1 and above.

Older Versions

We don't keep older versions of Bforartists 1 anymore. Those versions were development versions, and it does not make sense to still keep them public. The source code is available at Github in the releases tab. Means you can still compile those older versions by yourself if required.

When you compile Bforartists 1 at Windows then may need the precompiled Windows libraries that were used with VS 2013. Those libs are not longer available in the Blender repositories, they use VS 2017 with a new set of precompiled libs now. We have backed it up here:

Windows 64 Bit, 1.95 Gb

Windows 32 Bit, 1.65 Gb
