As I am digging deeper into the workflow of BforArtists, I am wondering if I can also customise the workspace quick link buttons on the top bar somehow?
It´s probably hard to make users able to add or remove certain buttons, but it would be cool to have a set of fixed buttons, that can be applied and renamed to the specific needs.
Of course I can create a new workspace in the drop down list, but it would be handy to have customized buttons for quick switching between workspaces.
For example, I will never use the the scripting workspace, but when modeling I would like to be able to quickly switch to a pre setup 4 view layout. So I would like to be able to create this workspace and then assign it to one of the buttons.
I don´t know how to script, but I would assume, that it is possible to create the menu in such a way, that the user can just right click on one of the buttons and choose a workspace from the drop down list to be assigned to this button. The name from the drop down list would then appear in abbreviated form as the buttons name.
Just a workflow feature idea.
We tried, but it’s not so easy possible, sorry. You can of course edit the existing buttons, and add new ones, but you would have to dive into the Python code here, and modify the UI script.
Blender 2.8 will come with tabs at the top instead of the dropdown box. And there you can manage your needed layouts in the way you want here. And this code will of course also find its way into Bforartists then. That’s why we stopped to investigate here.
Tabs would be even better, let´s wait then.
I think the eevee test builds does have the tabs already. Just in case you want to try it out
