A…. question, how do you link and show videos in these forums? (from Vimeo or Youtube?)
Test test …
[ youtube ] xf4vJkkSme4 [ /youtube ]

It’s the number of the youtube video in youtube brackets.

Hm, the full youtu.be link should also work. Test test. Works. But the formatting is a bit off.

This version is the embed code copied
<iframe width=”709″ height=”399″ src=”https://www.youtube.com/embed/xf4vJkkSme4″ frameborder=”0″ allow=”accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture” allowfullscreen></iframe>
Yay, does not work \o/

I have disabled the second way now. It loads the full youtube player and all its trackers. The youtube tag is bad enough, but loads just the preview image and a doubleclick cookie.

Test vimeo …
Works the same way [ vimeo ] 198934837 [ /vimeo ]

Woah, the youtube tag is as bad as direct embed. And i can’t find a way to embed it privacy conform -.-
So best is to just post the link. And not to embed it here.

A test with youtube.nocookie …

<iframe width=”560″ height=”315″ src=”https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/xf4vJkkSme4″ frameborder=”0″ allow=”accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture” allowfullscreen></iframe>

Hah, where there is a way there is a will.
The way is a bit bad to use for users though. I have now installed a plugin that uses an iframe tag. So to embed the video gdpr compliant, use a youtube-nocookie link. This can be obtained at Youtube. Click at share, then at embed, then scroll down to the menu item as shown in the third image. I don’t know the english name for this. Then simply copy the url.
And the code to display the video is then [ iframe src=”herecomestheyoutubenocookieurl” ]
You can also add some features like width
[ iframe src=“herecomestheyoutubenocookieurl“ width=“100%“ height=“500″ ]

Ehm.. wait, so linking/sharing a youtube video to a forum violates the GDPR!? Or is it more a google thing where a linked youtube video sends stats to Google and you are not so keen with that?
Just trying it out. Would be nice to have the youtube tags add the code when used and have tooltip in the toolbar for the privacy links. Had no idea about those methods for less tracked videos.
Hmm.. I no-longer can edit, and I still can’t link in a video. Hmm…
Man, the GDPR is so annoying. I made a website for a client in France once, and we had to find a way to comply. It was way too much time and at the end of the day, we just had to say “cookies are used, comply?” and list all the terms and conditions and things… but from what we read, embedding content hosted legally on other websites wasn’t really an issue, how does it violate the GDPR?
To get it going…Would a link look like the following??
Yes, that would be the privacy conform link.
And yes, GDPR is so annoying. It kills the internet. But it is law …
And meh, i thought i have fixed the edit time already. WORDPRESS AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Will have a look to make the posts editable forever. I think it’s ten minutes by default or so ^^

Hm, you did everything correct, but your link is not showing the content. My nocookie link from above works just fine as you can see. Seems that not every nocookie link is working. In this case you better use the [ youtube ] tag, even when this is not privacy conform. Or place a link to the video.
Just testing if the video shows up at all with the youtube tag.
EDIT, yes, does. My Adblocker runs amok at this though …
